EB5 Immigration Visa for Real Estate Investors in Miami

Are you a foreign entrepreneur who’d like to capitalize on Miami’s growing real estate market? The EB-5 visa program provides an ideal option to invest in U.S. businesses, earn a profit, and obtain residency in the United States – all at the same time.

The Investor Immigrant Program is currently managed by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services or the USCIS. It was first enforced in the early nineties as a means to promote the economy. One of the requirements of this program is that participants invest in commercial businesses only, which includes real estate for-profit entities. The investor must either start up this business, or increase an existing company’s revenue and/or employee base by 40%, according to the official USCIS site.

The minimum investment amount is $1M and assets for investing can include legally obtained cash, property, equipment and more. When investing in a rural area or a vicinity with high unemployment however, the minimum investment is decreased to $500,000.

In order to apply, an investor would need to file Form I-526, Petition by Alien Entrepreneur. An immigration attorney is well-versed in these processes and may be able to help file faster paperwork or approval times through their expertise and knowledge.

When examining real estate investing as an avenue for residency, it’s essential that investors perform rigorous due diligence in order to minimize risks. According to Miami Today News, the real estate sector in Miami makes up 80% of these program initiatives. Other news sources merit this program with helping in the recovery of the U.S. real estate market.
